Adoration

Dear Adorers of the Most Blessed Sacrament,

I cannot tell you how proud and thankful I am for you! Together we are making Jesus available to Hagerstown 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. God bless you!

To make sure everything runs smoothly, I want to go over a few policies and procedures that will be both helpful and necessary to follow.

Dedicated Parking at 231 Wareham Alley

We have a dedicated parking lot for our adorers and handicapped parishioners/guests located at 231 Wareham Alley. No one except registered adorers and those with a valid handicap parking pass may park here. The only exception will be for a funeral. The hearse will need to park in the adoration parking lot during the funeral Mass. Thank you for understanding.

Policy on When to Request a Substitute

There are two people scheduled to adore at every hour. Please get to know the person adoring with you—your “prayer partner.” It would be helpful to exchange email addresses and phone numbers with that person. If you know you are going to be away for a week, please make sure your prayer partner will be there when you are gone. As long as they will be there during the normal hour, there is no need to request a sub. Only if both you and your pray partner cannot be there will you then need to request a sub to ensure that Jesus is not left alone.

How to Request a Substitute in Adoration Pro

(When neither scheduled adorer will be able to keep the holy hour)

There will be times when you need to have someone cover your hour of adoration. Normally, you will receive a reminder 24 hours in advance of your hour of adoration and you can initiate a sub request at that time from the link provided in the reminder. This link will take you to the landing page of Adoration Pro.

Follow these steps:

  • Click find a sub

  • Enter the password: subpass (all one word, all lowercase)

  • Click: “Make a Sub Request”

  • Enter the date for which you need to have a sub

  • Select your adoration time

  • Select an Adorer

  • Click: Send Sub Request (blue field)

  • A “Confirm Request” screen appears

  • Verify the information on this screen is correct

  • Click: Send Request (gold field)

  • Type your first name This is to verify the above information is correct

  • Click the confirm button

  • The sub request will be sent to the subs in the Adoration Pro System

  • When someone agrees to substitute for you, you will receive an email or text

The best practice is to initiate a sub request as soon as you know your hour will need to be covered. To do this go to: https://adorationpro.org/annmd and follow the instructions listed above.

Policy on Devotional Books and Items in the Chapel

There will be useful devotional books and Bibles on the bookshelf in the back of the adoration chapel. Please be sure to return the books you use to the bookshelf to help keep the chapel neat. Please do NOT leave books and devotionals in the chapel. Everything must be approved by the pastor. Please do not remove books from the chapel.

Inclement Weather Policy

If there is a weather emergency and it is not safe to have Adoration, we will let everyone know via email. This will be sent out both through AdorationPro and FlockNote.

Security

The door to the Adoration Chapel is always locked. Only registered adorers will receive a key card to gain access. Please do not let anyone in or leave the door propped open.

Weekly Cleaning—Thursdays from 3-4pm

Each week the Adoration Chapel will be cleaned on Thursday from 3pm-4pm. During that hour, the chapel will be closed. The scheduled adorers should go to the Main Church for that hour of prayer. On the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, Mass will also be offered in the Adoration Chapel from 3-4PM as the church requires this.

Daily Prayer Intentions

In addition to your private prayer requests, I have assigned a prayer intention for each day— that we should all pray for.

Sunday: For a greater love of the Most Blessed Sacrament and for the intentions of our parishioners.

Monday: For our Pope, Archbishop and all the clergy; for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life and for the intentions of all our parishioners.

Tuesday: For the end to all abortions in Hagerstown; for a greater respect for all life; and for the intentions of all our parishioners.

Wednesday: For a strengthening of all marriages and families and for the intentions of all our parishioners.

Thursday: For our loved ones who are away from the church; for anyone in need; for the deceased; and for the intentions of all our parishioners.

Friday: For St. Mary’s Parish and Catholic School, all our staff, students and families and for the intentions of all our parishioners.

Saturday: For a greater love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Chaste heart of St. Joseph; and for the intentions of all our parishioners.

Chapel Etiquette & Protocol

  • Silence all cell phones before entering the chapel

  • All prayer during the hour should be silent—to respect everyone who comes to pray

  • Please arrive a few minutes before your hour of adoration so you have time to check- in on the iPad before you enter the chapel

  • The iPad screen is located on the wall in the hallway and should be set to the Adoration Pro main screen which contains two fields: adorer sign in and weekly commitment

  • o If the Adoration Pro app does not appear on the iPad home screen, click the iPad home button to bring up the main Adoration Pro screen.

  • Click adorer sign in

  • Click scheduled adorer sign in or substitute and your name (or the name of the adorer for whom you are subbing) and adoration time should appear

  • Click your name and time

  • Click submit

  • Signing in each week helps us determine if we have enough adorers for each hour of adoration

·  The iPad is very reliable, however, in the event it is offline, you can always enter the following address in your smartphone’s browser: https://www.adorationpro.org/annmd. This will bring up the website and you can enter your weekly attendance log. Also, you can save this website to your phone’s home screen.

    • If you don’t have a smartphone and the iPad is offline, feel free to email kline@myactv.net with your attendance information and it will be entered it into Adoration Pro for you.
